Kuwait's Ministry of Interior Supports Visitors and Expats Affected by Regional Crisis
The Kuwait Ministry of Interior is taking measures to support visitors and expatriates affected by the regional crisis. Two key measures have been implemented:
- Expired visit visas will be granted a one-month extension
- Kuwaiti residents abroad will receive an additional three months of absence
Practical Details
These extensions will come into effect starting from February 28, 2026. They will be automatically granted by the Ministry's electronic system, with no need for individuals to physically visit. Administrative fees and fines related to this period will be completely waived.
What This Means for Those Affected
- For visitors already in Kuwait: a one-month automatic extension, with no fees or penalties
- For residents stranded outside the country: an additional three months, avoiding the cancellation of their residence permit – a usual penalty after six months of unauthorized absence
What's Next?
The Ministry has stated that these deadlines may be extended depending on the evolution of the situation. It recommends following its official communications for updates. Meanwhile, Kuwait Airways has announced special facilities for the repatriation of Kuwaitis.
