Autoliv Expands Presence in Tunisia with Advanced Technology Project

The Swedish group Autoliv is strengthening its presence in Tunisia with the extension of its factory located in El Fahs, in the governorate of Zaghouan, an industrial project estimated at around 84 million dinars and focused on advanced production technologies.

Inauguration of the New Development Phase

This new phase of development was inaugurated on Thursday, June 25, by the Minister of Equipment and Housing, acting as interim Minister of Industry, Mines, and Energy, during a ceremony attended by several Tunisian and foreign officials, including the Swedish embassy in Tunisia.

Integration of Industry 4.0 Technologies

Concretely, this extension integrates Industry 4.0 technologies and aims to increase the production capacity of the site, while improving energy efficiency and logistical organization. The project is also expected to generate new specialized jobs and strengthen local skills in the automotive industry.

Autoliv's Presence in Tunisia

Already established in Tunisia since 1999, Autoliv operates two sites in the governorate of Zaghouan, in El Fahs and Nadhour, and has established itself as a major player in the automotive components sector. The group produces around 7 million steering wheels per year worldwide, including nearly 4 million manufactured in Tunisia and mainly destined for the European market.

Economic Impact

According to the data presented during the inauguration, the company already employs more than 4,500 people in Tunisia and is part of a sector that includes nearly 300 companies and more than 120,000 jobs in the country, a sector considered strategic for the national economy.
