Habib Kamoun Increases Stake in Banque de Tunisie

Historic shareholder Habib Kamoun has once again demonstrated his interest in Banque de Tunisie, Tunisia's oldest bank, by acquiring a significant number of shares. His group is one of the guarantors of the bank's stability and has been consistently purchasing shares whenever the opportunity arises.

Yesterday, Société Capital & Investissement – CAPINVEST-SICAF, led by Habib Kamoun, announced the acquisition of 20,200 Banque de Tunisie shares for a total amount of 102,692 TND. A second notice of significant transactions also revealed a direct purchase of 7,247 shares by Habib Kamoun himself, worth 36,887 TND.

This is not the first operation in 2024 for the family group. CAPINVEST-SICAF had previously purchased 17,998 shares on January 24, 2024, and 11,668 shares on June 3, 2024. As a result, the group's total stake has increased to 24,951,775 shares, representing 9.24% of Banque de Tunisie's capital. This makes Habib Kamoun the second-largest Tunisian shareholder, after the heirs of the late Abdellatif El Fekih.

The group is taking advantage of the bank's current valuation levels, which have yielded a return of only 1.12% since the beginning of the year. Despite this, the bank is performing well, respecting prudential norms, generating profits, and distributing recurring dividends. The value of the Habib Kamoun group's stake is estimated at 128,501 MTND as of yesterday. A two-digit appreciation would allow them to realize a significant capital gain, rewarding their long-term and well-thought-out investment strategy. There is no better investment than the stock market, but true returns are reserved for those who know where to put their money and, above all, are patient.
