2nd Edition of the Mediterranean Artificial Intelligence Forum (FMIA) Concludes in Tunis
The 2nd edition of the Mediterranean Artificial Intelligence Forum (FMIA), organized under the aegis of the Tunisian Ministry of Technologies and Communication and the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs (Interministerial Delegation for the Mediterranean), came to a close on November 21, 2025, at the Tunis City of Culture. With over 3,000 participants, this edition confirmed Tunisia as a regional hub for AI in the Mediterranean, a space where innovative, sustainable, and human-centered solutions are being built.
Concrete Solutions for Mediterranean Challenges
For two days, researchers, entrepreneurs, young talents, and decision-makers presented concrete projects to address regional challenges:
- Water and climate management: AI models to optimize water resources and predict droughts
- Smart agriculture: tools to help farmers adapt to climate change
- Health and education: telemedicine platforms and personalized learning
Business Track and Fund Announcement
A Business Track, inaugurated by H.E. Ms. Nadia Hai, Interministerial Delegate for the Mediterranean, brought together over 100 startups and companies in the AI sector and announced the launch of a €2 million "Team France" fund for AI in the Mediterranean. This fund aims to position the southern shore of the Mediterranean as a strategic hub for artificial intelligence, structuring a dynamic ecosystem that fosters innovation, entrepreneurship, and regional collaboration, and supporting emerging AI actors in five countries in the region (Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt, and Lebanon).
Hackathon Winners and Future Edition
The winners of the Talents Tunisia Hackathon, whose AI projects for education and the environment were showcased, demonstrated the dynamism of young innovators in Tunisia and the Mediterranean. "These two days have shown that the Mediterranean is full of innovative solutions, driven by young talents from across the region and boosted by the connectivity of the Mediterranean basin," said H.E. Ms. Anne Guéguen.
Next Edition in 2026
The organizers announced that the 3rd edition of the FMIA will take place in 2026 in Marseille. "See you next year to continue building an innovative, sustainable, and connected Mediterranean!"
