Tunisia to Receive New Financing of Nearly $312 Million from the Arab Monetary Fund
Tunisia will benefit from a new financing of almost $312 million from the Arab Monetary Fund (AMF). The loan agreement was signed on July 7, 2026, and aims to support the country's efforts to strengthen its economic and financial stability.
Details of the Loan Agreement
The loan, amounting to 76.7 million Arab Accounting Dinar, was concluded between the Tunisian government, represented by the Governor of the Central Bank of Tunisia, Fethi Zouhaier Nouri, and the Arab Monetary Fund, represented by its Director-General, Fahad Alturki.
Objectives of the Financing
According to the Central Bank of Tunisia, this financing will accompany the program of economic and financial reforms undertaken by the authorities. The funds will be used to contribute to the financing of the balance of payments, an essential lever for preserving the country's financial and external balances and strengthening the Tunisian economy's ability to withstand external shocks. The loan will be disbursed in three tranches, with the first tranche being paid out as soon as the agreement comes into effect. Each tranche is granted for a period of seven years, with a grace period of three and a half years, followed by repayment in eight equal semi-annual installments.
Cooperation and Confidence
The Central Bank emphasizes that this agreement illustrates the continuation of cooperation between Tunisia and the Arab Monetary Fund, as well as the trust placed in the country's program of economic and financial reforms. The objective is to consolidate financial stability, improve the resilience of the Tunisian economy, and support sustainable growth.
