World Anti-Doping Agency Lifts Sanctions Against Tunisia

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has announced the immediate lifting of sanctions against Tunisia. This decision follows the confirmation that the Tunisian National Anti-Doping Agency (Anad) has aligned itself with international standards. The Ministry of Youth and Sports welcomed this news in a statement dated May 14, 2024, marking the end of a difficult period for Tunisian sports.

Previously, on April 30, 2024, WADA had maintained its sanctions, which were imposed due to non-compliance with national anti-doping procedures. These restrictive measures deprived Tunisia of the opportunity to host major sporting events and prohibited Tunisian athletes from competing under their national flag at the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Furthermore, Tunisian professionals were excluded from positions on WADA committees and leadership.
