Tunisia's Trade Balance: Exports Down, Imports Up in First Two Months of 2025

According to the latest data from the National Institute of Statistics (INS), Tunisia's trade balance with the exterior at current prices for the first two months of 2025 shows that:

Exports

  • Reached a level of 10,169.2 million Tunisian dinars (Mtnd) compared to 10,637.6 Mtnd during the same period in 2024, a decrease of 4.4%.

Imports

  • Reached a level of 13,687.1 Mtnd compared to 12,417.5 Mtnd during the same period in 2024, an increase of 10.2%.

Trade Deficit

  • Stands at a level of 3,517.9 Mtnd compared to 1,779.9 Mtnd during the same period in 2024.
  • The coverage rate stands at 74.3% compared to 85.7% during the same period in 2024.

Breakdown of Exports by Region

  • Exports to the European Union (69.7% of total exports) decreased by 6.9%.
    • Decrease in exports to certain European partners, such as France (-7.9%), Italy (-3%), and Spain (-43.9%).
    • Increase in exports to Germany (10.7%) and the Netherlands (34%).
  • Exports to neighboring countries increased:
    • Libya (51.6%)
    • Morocco (40.6%)
    • Algeria (11.8%)
    • Egypt (149.1%)
