The Chinese electric vehicle giant BYD is considering entering the world of high-level motorsport, particularly in Formula 1. According to reports by Bloomberg, the manufacturer is analyzing several scenarios to integrate into the top-level motorsport discipline. Bloomberg, citing sources close to the matter, states that the Chinese group is examining different options for entering international automotive competitions, including Formula 1 and the World Endurance Championship (WEC), which includes the famous 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Expansion and Global Visibility
This consideration comes as BYD pursues rapid international expansion. A presence in such highly publicized championships could strengthen the brand's global visibility and support its development strategy in new markets.

Creating a Team or Acquiring an Existing Structure?
According to Bloomberg, several options are being studied. The manufacturer could either create a Formula 1 team from scratch or enter the discipline by acquiring an existing team. The president of the FIA, Mohammed Ben Sulayem, also believes that a Chinese team in F1 would be a logical step after the arrival of Cadillac, according to FormulaRacers.
Such an operation would represent a turning point for the discipline. Formula 1 is currently dominated by European and North American manufacturers and teams. The arrival of a major Chinese manufacturer would be a rare event in the history of the championship.
