Insurance Sector Continues to Thrive

The insurance sector is maintaining its strong momentum. According to the latest statistics published regularly by the CGA, net premiums of insurance companies totaled 2,802.3 billion TND as of September 2025, representing an 11.5% year-over-year increase.

Breakdown of Insurance Segments

The automotive insurance segment remains the main contributor to this business volume, with premiums of 1,234.1 billion TND, accounting for 39.5% of the sector's turnover. Life and capitalization insurance continued to develop rapidly, with premiums of 888.3 billion TND, up 19.1% year-over-year. This is the fastest growth rate after that of hail and livestock mortality insurance, which saw its turnover increase by 22.5% to 9.2 billion TND.

Other segments include:

  • Group health insurance: 493.9 billion TND
  • Fire insurance: 219.5 billion TND
  • Miscellaneous risks: 200.5 billion TND
  • Transport: 77.8 billion TND (the only segment to record a decline in premiums, down 3.6% compared to September 2024)

Reinsurance and Claims

The premiums accepted by the Tunisian Reinsurance Company amounted to 179.3 billion TND, an improvement of 2.7%. In terms of claims, insurance companies paid out 1,575.2 billion TND, an increase of 3.4% compared to the same period in 2024. The largest share of claims was attributed to:

  • Automotive insurance: 724.4 billion TND
  • Group health insurance: 375.3 billion TND
  • Life and capitalization insurance: 235.1 billion TND
  • Group health insurance: 356.5 billion TND

Key Statistics

  • 1,428,568 claims were reported during the first nine months of the year, including 253,414 in the automotive sector.
  • Assets invested to represent technical provisions reached 10,901 billion TND, providing a strong financial foundation for the system. Moreover, investment products are supporting the profitability of insurance companies.
