Tunnel Connecting Bardo and Zahrouni Neighborhoods Officially Opens to Traffic

The tunnel linking the Bardo and Zahrouni neighborhoods was officially opened to traffic on August 19.

According to an official statement, this new infrastructure, measuring 300 meters in length, 15 meters in width, and 4.5 meters in height, features a two-way road with two lanes, facilitating traffic flow between the two neighborhoods.

The construction of this tunnel, estimated to have cost 13.6 million dinars, is part of the implementation of sections of the D line of the rapid rail network (RFR).

This ambitious project, with a total budget of 1.4 billion dinars for its first phase, aims to transform urban transportation by offering a rapid and efficient alternative for the capital's inhabitants.

Once operational, the D line is expected to transport over 20,000 passengers per day, thereby reinforcing the capital's public transportation network.

This development is part of a broader strategy to alleviate urban congestion and promote the use of public transportation, providing a sustainable solution to Tunis' mobility challenges.
