Agricultural Investment Promotion Agency (APIA) Releases 2025 Report

The Agricultural Investment Promotion Agency (APIA) has unveiled its report for the year 2025. The total value of declared investments in the agricultural and fishing sectors reached 1,244.8 million Tunisian dinars (Mtnd), representing a 6.1% increase compared to 2024.

Key Highlights of the Report

  • The year 2025 was marked by the consolidation of digital procedures, with 75% of investment declarations (4,462 files) made remotely, accounting for 82% of the total value of declared investments, with an amount of 1,015 Mtnd.
  • The agricultural services sector saw significant investments, with a total of 213.6 Mtnd.
  • The value of projects approved by the APIA increased by 15.9% to 515.3 Mtnd, spread over 2,862 operations. Adding the files of small farmers validated by the CRDA, the total number of approved investment operations reaches 6,513, with a total value of 548 Mtnd.

Employment and Regional Distribution

  • These investments are expected to generate 3,015 permanent jobs, mainly in the Center-West and South-East regions (with 961 and 885 new positions, respectively).
  • The analysis by project type shows a predominance of new unit creations (56% of operations), followed by extensions (39%) and renewals (5%).

Emergence of New Actors

  • The year 2025 also saw the emergence of new actors, with 35 community companies having their projects approved for an amount of 8.9 Mtnd, benefiting from subsidies of 4.2 Mtnd. These structures, a new form of organization, operate mainly in sheep farming and the refrigerated transport of agricultural and fishing products.

Support for Cooperatives and Young Promoters

  • Additionally, 53 operations were approved for agricultural service cooperatives and development groups, for an amount of 16.3 Mtnd (including 5.7 Mtnd in subsidies).
  • The scheme also benefited 476 young promoters for an amount of 51.1 Mtnd, and 181 female promoters who obtained decisions to grant benefits for projects worth 18.6 Mtnd, allowing for the creation of 63 permanent jobs.

Foreign Investment

  • Investments with foreign participation saw a 162% increase, reaching 21 Mtnd. They mainly concern extensions and renewals of existing projects in greenhouse vegetable crops, olive tree plantations, and fruit tree plantations.
