Launch of the "TANIT" Project to Boost Sustainable Tourism in Tunisia
Today, the "TANIT" project was officially launched in Tunis by Leaders International and Museum Lab, in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and the European Union.
Co-financed by the EU, the TANIT project aims to strengthen the development of sustainable tourism in Tunisia, focusing on enhancing the capacities of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) active in the sustainable tourism sector. The project promotes an inclusive approach that values the country's rich natural and cultural heritage.
During the launch event held at the Ministry of Tourism headquarters, the project's steering committee members discussed the selection criteria for the 35 beneficiary associations, emphasizing the role of CSOs and local communities in implementing sustainable tourism initiatives.
They also stressed the importance of sectoral coordination between public and private actors for the project's success.
Implemented by Leaders International in collaboration with Museum Lab, the TANIT project will stimulate economic development, particularly in inland regions, by promoting sustainable tourism that showcases Tunisia's natural and cultural heritage. This will help diversify the country's tourist offerings beyond coastal areas.
The governorates of Jendouba, Kef, Siliana, Béja, Zaghouan, Medenine, Gabes, and Tataouine will be at the heart of the project's initiatives, with the goal of revitalizing their tourist potential and enhancing their attractiveness.
