Algeria Reinstates Visa Requirement for Moroccan Citizens
The Algerian government has decided to reinstate a visa requirement for Moroccan citizens traveling to Algeria.
This measure aims to address the security concerns expressed by the Algerian government. According to Algerian authorities, Morocco has been taking advantage of the visa exemption to facilitate the infiltration of "Zionist intelligence agents" into its territory. These agents are allegedly involved in "various actions threatening the stability of Algeria and its national security."
It is worth noting that the borders between the two countries have been closed since 1994, but the freedom of movement had not been called into question. Algeria severed diplomatic relations with its neighbor in August 2021.
