US Diplomatic Network Overhaul
The administration of American President Donald Trump is undergoing a significant reshuffle of its diplomatic network, recalling around 30 ambassadors and high-ranking diplomats appointed under the previous presidency, particularly in Africa, where 15 countries are affected, including Algeria.
The US Ambassador to Algeria, Elizabeth Moore Aubin, is among the diplomats whose term will end as early as January 2026, according to consistent reports. These recalls also affect posts in Egypt, Senegal, Niger, Nigeria, Gabon, and other capitals on the continent.
This global movement, described by some observers as a strategic change, is part of the Trump administration's stated desire to strengthen the alignment of its foreign representatives with the priorities of its so-called "America First" policy.
