Turkish Exports to Africa Reach $19.4 Billion in 2024, Up 1.7%
Turkish exports to Africa have surpassed the $19.4 billion mark in 2024, posting a moderate growth rate of 1.7% compared to 2023, according to the latest data from the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM). This performance confirms the growing importance of the African continent, which now absorbs 7.4% of Turkey's international sales, driven mainly by dynamic demand in North Africa.
Egypt Emerges as Turkey's Top Trading Partner in Africa
Egypt has solidified its position as Turkey's leading trading partner in Africa, with exports reaching $3.5 billion in 2024, a 21.8% increase year-over-year. This growth is attributed to the recent normalization of diplomatic relations between Ankara and Cairo. Morocco ($3.1 billion) and Libya ($2.5 billion) complete the top three.
Several sub-Saharan countries also stand out, with Ghana recording a remarkable 49.6% increase, followed by Nigeria (+9.1%) and Libya (+8.4%).
Sectoral Breakdown: Chemistry Leads Turkish Exports to Africa
In terms of sectors, chemistry dominates Turkish sales with $3.1 billion, followed by cereals and oilseeds ($2.5 billion), steel ($2 billion), automotive industry ($1.4 billion), and electrical and electronic products ($1.3 billion).
With this volume of exports, Turkey confirms its positioning in Africa.
