African Development Bank Appoints Afef Bouabene-Kallel as Financial Controller
The African Development Bank (AfDB) has appointed Afef Bouabene-Kallel as the head of its Financial Control Department, with the title of Financial Controller of the Group. She will now oversee all financial operations of the Bank, ensuring adherence to international standards and timely reporting.
This Belgian national expert accountant has been working at the AfDB since 2005. She started as a principal financial accountant, then climbed the ranks to lead the Division of Expenditure Administration, and later the Financial Control Department. She managed loan accounting, accounting policies, disbursements, and relationships with external auditors.
In her new role, she will also sit on several strategic committees, including those related to risk management, information systems, and pension and health schemes.
Afef Bouabene-Kallel brings over 32 years of experience in financial control, corporate governance, and strategy. She holds a degree in finance from the University of Cergy-Pontoise, a degree in European tax law from ICHEC-ESSF, and a degree in accounting from the Higher Institute of Management in Tunis. She has also worked in auditing at Moore Stephens Tunisie, where she accompanied World Bank-funded projects.
