Economic Rapprochement between Tunisia and Portugal Gains Momentum with Upcoming Bilateral Economic Forum

A new chapter in the economic relationship between Tunisia and Portugal is set to unfold with the preparation of a bilateral economic forum in Tunis. This initiative was proposed during a meeting between Tunisian Prime Minister Sarra Zaafrani Zenzeri and Portuguese Prime Minister on the sidelines of the 4th International Conference on Development Financing on June 30, 2025.

As the two countries celebrate the 68th anniversary of their diplomatic relations, they are betting on a strengthened partnership to attract more Portuguese investments in Tunisia, particularly in key sectors such as renewable energy, infrastructure, transportation, and modern technologies.

Tunisia aims to woo Portuguese businesses with its attractive investment climate and co-development opportunities in strategic sectors. According to the Portuguese Prime Minister, the time is ripe to diversify exchanges and boost economic cooperation.

Both parties have agreed on the need to increase official visits to define the contours of the upcoming forum and identify the sectors to be highlighted. The goal is to build a win-win partnership and give a new dimension to Tunisian-Portuguese relations.
