Ministry of Industry Launches Competitiveness Pact
The Ministry of Industry officially launched its Competitiveness Pact on Tuesday, March 24, in Tunis. The minister convened the first steering committee, marking a significant step towards making Tunisia a major technological hub. This project is directly aligned with the national innovation strategy, with the government focusing on high-value-added projects to attract investors.
Infrastructure Dedicated to Innovation
The roadmap extends until 2030 and includes the creation of four research and development centers. The plan goes beyond the industry itself, with innovation becoming the driving force behind growth. The objective is to transform the local industrial landscape sustainably. The plan massively supports productive investment to remain competitive in the global market.
Massive Employment Acceleration
The announced figures are ambitious, with the sector aiming to create 30,000 new jobs in five years. The local integration rate is expected to increase from 35% to 55%. In terms of trade, exports are expected to double to reach 7 billion dinars. Currently, 150 companies are already driving the sector, employing 70,000 people and forming a solid foundation for this scale change.
Next Steps
The next steps will depend on consultation with businesses. Committee members must now turn these ideas into concrete actions. Dialogue with institutional partners will be crucial to the success of the pact. The government is counting on the support of all stakeholders to achieve its goals and make Tunisia a major technological hub.
