Tunisia Unveils its First Mobile Soil Laboratory

The General Directorate of Agricultural Land Development and Conservation, under the Ministry of Agriculture, welcomed "Sol Mobile", Tunisia's first mobile soil laboratory, on Monday, October 28, 2024.

During the reception ceremony, the Minister of Agriculture, Ezzeddine Ben Cheikh, highlighted the strategic importance of this equipment in adopting sustainable practices and implementing concrete measures to protect and restore soils, particularly in the northwestern and central western regions of the country, known for their vulnerability to erosion and degradation.

Developed under the ProSol program - a project to preserve and rehabilitate soils in Tunisia -, "Sol Mobile" was initiated by the General Directorate of Agricultural Land Rehabilitation and Protection in collaboration with the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ).

The mobile laboratory will play a key role in raising awareness among farmers about sustainable soil management techniques, essential for addressing the challenges of soil degradation and climate change.
