Tunisia Seeks Strategic Partner for Enfidha Deep-Water Port Construction

Tunisia is seeking a strategic partner for the construction of the Enfidha deep-water port, a project of national importance aimed at strengthening the country's port infrastructure. Minister of Equipment, Sarah Zaafrani Zenzri, has affirmed that this initiative fully respects the sovereignty of the state.

In February 2020, calls for tenders were launched, and the Enfidha Port Company received three proposals from different companies. However, after examination, these proposals revealed irregularities that were not corrected despite warnings sent to the companies.

The Enfidha port project is part of the state's vision to create Tunisia's first smart port, meeting international standards. The minister indicated that the first phase of the project will cost approximately $1.03 billion. Of this amount, $768 million, or 75% of the total financing, will be covered by the public sector. The private sector is invited to provide $262 million for the purchase of necessary equipment.

This ambitious project aims to make Enfidha a top-tier logistics hub, capable of boosting the national economy and positioning Tunisia as a major player in international maritime trade.
