Tunisia Participates in Expo 2025 Osaka
Tunisia is taking part in the Expo 2025 Osaka, which officially opened on Saturday on the artificial island of Yumeshima, located in Osaka, Japan's Kansai region.
The country is represented by a delegation comprising Ahmed Chafra, Tunisia's ambassador to Tokyo, Mourad Ben Hassine, CEO of the Export Promotion Center (Cepex) and Tunisia's Commissioner General for Expo 2025, as well as Cyrine Kanzari, director of the Tunisian pavilion.
Nearly 30 million visitors from 170 countries are expected to attend this global event, which opened on April 13 and will run until October 13, 2025, under the theme "Designing the Society of the Future, Imagining Our Life Tomorrow".
The Tunisian pavilion, named "Résonance", spans an area of 300 square meters and is located in the exhibition zone dedicated to "Saving Lives". It falls under the theme "Partnership in Innovation, Science, and Technology to Save Lives".
Through a selection of traditional Tunisian art objects, the pavilion highlights the diversity and richness of the country's cultural, civilizational, and artisanal heritage. Artisans from El Jem, Djerba, Gafsa, Kef, and Nabeul are showcasing their skills, illustrating the country's varied cultural identities.
The pavilion's concept revolves around three major axes: effective and sustainable water resource management; culinary heritage and local products for better health; and scientific and medical advancements.
This participation aims to promote Tunisia's image by offering visitors an immersive experience into its history and culture, from the Carthaginian era to the present day.
It also seeks to highlight the country's main asset: its resilient, innovative, and capable youth, who are ready to take on contemporary challenges. Through this showcase, Tunisia wishes to assert its position as a strategic partner of Japan, combining high-level human skills and international openness.
It is worth noting that Japan is hosting the Expo for the third time, after the 1970 and 2005 editions.
Held every five years for a duration of six months, the Expos are among the most important events in the world in terms of attendance.
