Tunisia Officially Launches Development of National Registry of Skills and Professional Training Certifications
Tunisia has officially launched the development of the National Registry of Skills and Professional Training Certifications (RNCCFP), a structuring project aimed at modernizing and making the country's professional training offer more readable. The announcement was made on the occasion of a national day organized on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at the Diplomatic Academy of Tunis, in the presence of around 120 participants from the public and private sectors, professional organizations, and technical partners. This meeting marks the concrete start of the work to rationalize the sectors and specialties of training, the first step towards the implementation of this new digital platform.
Project Overview
The project is part of the PASE-OS3 program, co-financed by the European Union and the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), and implemented by GIZ Tunisia. It aims to strengthen the match between training and labor market needs through a centralized and evolving tool.
A Reform to Bring Training and Employment Closer Together
During the opening, the Minister of Employment and Professional Training, Riadh Chaoued, recalled that human capital remains a pillar of development in Tunisia. He emphasized the need to adapt training systems to economic and technological transformations, in order to guarantee better employability and quality of career paths.
The Future RNCCFP
The future RNCCFP will be a reference digital platform grouping training sectors, professions, skills, and certifications. It will also integrate qualification levels, training modalities, and sector operators. The objective is to propose a clear and accessible system to all actors, whether employers, young people looking for training, guidance counselors, or public institutions.
Replacement and Modernization of the National Nomenclature
This new tool comes to replace and modernize the National Nomenclature of Training Sectors and Specialties, in place since 2004 and currently managed in the form of a classic database. With 20 major sectors, 59 sub-sectors, and 574 specialties listed, this system shows its limitations in terms of updating and readability, making a thorough reform necessary.
Opening Up to International Standards
The project also provides for an interconnection with international references such as the Tunisian Directory of Professions and Skills, the European ESCO classification, and African certification frameworks. This opening should allow for better recognition of Tunisian skills on an international scale and facilitate professional mobility.
Governance and Regulatory Framework
In addition to the technical dimension, the RNCCFP is accompanied by the establishment of a governance framework and a regulatory text governing its operation. A harmonization work of definitions between the different actors of training and employment is also planned to ensure data consistency.
