Tunisia Officially Launches Smart City Project for Automotive Industry
Tunisia has officially kicked off the works for the creation of a smart city dedicated to the automotive industry, a project aimed at strengthening its positioning in this strategic sector and attracting major investments.
The first working committee, tasked with piloting this initiative, met on Tuesday, December 3, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Industry, Mines, and Energy.
During the meeting, a presentation highlighted the advantages of the automotive sector in Tunisia, including advanced industrial and technological infrastructure and a network of internationally renowned companies.
Currently, 300 companies operate in this field, with over half having foreign participation. These companies employ around 100,000 people, with a local integration rate of 38%.
The sector has generated an estimated production of 8 billion dinars and exports reaching 7.5 billion dinars in 2023. The Minister of Industry emphasized the goal of making Tunisia a regional platform for electric and intelligent vehicles, doubling exports and creating more jobs, in line with the orientations of the national industrial plan by 2027.
