The digital quality of life has become an essential criterion for evaluating citizens' well-being in today's connected world. In this context, Surfshark has published its Digital Quality of Life (DQL) Index for 2024, assessing 121 countries based on five fundamental criteria, including internet access, digital service security, and infrastructure quality. In 2024, Tunisia ranks 82nd globally and 5th in Africa, behind countries like South Africa, Morocco, Mauritius, and Egypt.
In Africa, South Africa leads the way (66th), followed by Morocco (69th), Mauritius (77th), Egypt (79th), and Tunisia (82nd). These countries stand out for their more developed digital infrastructures, better internet access, and enhanced online security compared to other nations on the continent.
On the other hand, Europe dominates globally in terms of digital quality of life. The top 10 countries in the DQL Index are all European, with countries like Germany, Finland, France, the Netherlands, and Denmark occupying the top positions. The DQL Index, based on 14 specific indicators, provides a detailed overview of each country's digital situation, taking into account aspects such as financial accessibility to the internet, online security, and the effectiveness of e-government.
