Tunisia Elected to Presidency of ACSAD Executive Council
During the recent General Assembly of the Arab Centre for Studies on Arid Zones and Dry Lands (ACSAD), Tunisia was elected to the presidency of the Executive Council, represented by the Minister of Agriculture, Water Resources, and Fisheries, Abdelmonem Belati. This meeting, held in Saudi Arabia, also saw the election of Saudi Arabia, represented by the Minister of Environment, Abderrahmane Ben Abdelmohsen El Fadhli, as the President of the General Assembly for its 37th session.
According to a statement issued by the Tunisian Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources, and Fisheries in Tunis, the meeting was marked by the presence of the Saudi Minister of Environment, as well as ministers of agriculture from member states and officials from the ACSAD centre.
Participants unanimously emphasized the importance of strengthening ACSAD's actions to promote sustainable development in the Arab world. This involves, among other things, revitalizing the centre's role in cooperation and coordination between Arab states, aligning its actions with the needs and priorities of national plans and programs to address the challenges and overcome the difficulties facing the region.
