Tunisian Tourism Sees Remarkable Growth, Becomes 3rd Most Popular Destination for French Holidaymakers
According to Les Entreprises de Voyage, a French organization representing 3,500 tourism experts, Tunisia has risen to the 3rd place among the most preferred destinations for French holidaymakers during the Christmas season, as reported by Les Échos. Outpacing Morocco and Egypt, Tunisia trails only metropolitan France and Spain, boasting an impressive annual growth rate of 42.5% between 2023 and 2024.
In 2024, Tunisia's tourism sector achieved record-breaking performances, welcoming over 10 million visitors. Tourism revenue exceeded 8 billion dinars, marking a 7% increase compared to the previous year. The French market, in particular, continued to play a crucial role, with a 4% growth, surpassing the 1 million mark of French tourists visiting the country.
Notably, a modification to Tunisia's entry rules for French citizens has been in effect since January 1, 2025. Travelers are now required to present a valid passport with at least three months' validity during checks. Until the end of 2024, a national identity card accompanied by a travel booklet issued by a travel agency was tolerated for group-organized trips.
Thanks to its growing popularity and solid economic performance, Tunisia continues to consolidate its position as a flagship destination for French holidaymakers.
