Tunisia Designated as African Kaizen Center of Excellence
Tunisia has been designated as a Kaizen Center of Excellence at the African level, during the continental conference "Africa Kaizen 2025" held on October 27 and 28 in Johannesburg, South Africa. This recognition, awarded by the Japanese International Cooperation Agency and the African Union's development agency, positions Tunisia among the four African countries, alongside South Africa, Ethiopia, and Mauritius, recognized for their exemplary commitment to continuous improvement and industrial competitiveness.
Representation and Expertise
Tunisia was represented by Slim Ferchichi, Director General of Innovation and Technological Development at the Ministry of Industry, Mines, and Energy, who leads the national program for quality and productivity improvement. He was accompanied by Noureddine Guizani, Director General of the Technical Center for Mechanical and Electrical Industries, as well as Tunisian experts specialized in the Kaizen methodology.
International Recognition
This international distinction crowns several years of close cooperation between the ministry's services and the eight industrial technical centers in the country. The new Kaizen Center of Excellence in Tunisia will have the mission of promoting the Kaizen culture based on continuous improvement and strengthening the competitiveness of Tunisian and African companies through skill transfer, training, and organizational innovation.
Tunisian Companies Recognized
In addition to this institutional recognition, two Tunisian companies stood out during this 2025 edition of the Kaizen Africa forum:
- Leoni Wiring Systems, specialized in automotive components, won the first prize "Africa Kaizen Outstanding", saluting its excellence in industrial performance.
- Sopal, leader in the manufacture of sanitary equipment and faucets, was awarded the second prize "Excellent".
Awards Ceremony
The trophies were presented by the South African Minister of Labor and Employment during the closing ceremony, highlighting Tunisia's growing place on the African map of industrial excellence.
Consolidation of Tunisia's Leadership
This nomination confirms the maturity of the Tunisian industrial fabric and the relevance of its continuous improvement strategy, based on quality, productivity, and innovation. By becoming the African hub of Kaizen, Tunisia consolidates its role as a regional leader in promoting a performing, sustainable, and competitive industry.
