Tunisian Olive Oil Exports Reach 157,200 Tons, Up 46.3%
Between November 2024 and March 2025, Tunisia's olive oil exports reached 157,200 tons, a significant increase of 46.3% compared to the same period in the previous campaign (107,500 tons).
Bulk Exports Dominate, Conditioned Oil Remains Stable
According to data published by the National Observatory of Agriculture (Onagri), conditioned oil accounts for only 10.2% of total exports, confirming the predominance of bulk exports (89.8%). The share of conditioned oil remains stable compared to the 2023/2024 campaign.
Extra Virgin Olive Oil Leads the Way
Extra virgin olive oil constitutes 82.7% of the total volume exported. However, the value of exports has decreased by 25.8%, from 2,865.7 million dinars to 2,126.2 million dinars. This decline is partly explained by a 54% drop in the average export price, which ranged from 8.0 to 18.4 TND/kg depending on the category.
EU Remains Top Market, Italy Leads Importers
The European Union remains the primary market for Tunisian olive oil, absorbing 60.8% of the volume, followed by North America (23.2%) and Africa (9.8%). Italy maintains its position as the top importer, accounting for 29.8% of exported volumes, ahead of Spain (26.9%) and the United States (18.6%).
Organic Olive Oil Exports Reach 30,000 Tons
As of the end of March 2025, Tunisia has exported 30,000 tons of organic olive oil, representing approximately 4% of the total exported volume. The majority of this organic oil is destined for Italy (60%), Spain (20%), and the United States (11%). The average price of organic olive oil ranged from 13.70 to 18.12 TND/kg.
