COMESA Delegation Meets with Tunisian Minister to Discuss Regional Cloud Ecosystem Project
A delegation from the COMESA (Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa) Secretariat and representatives from the mandated advisory bureau met with Tunisian Minister of Communication Technologies, Nizar Ben Neji, on Monday, May 6, 2024, to discuss the preparation of a study on the implementation of a regional cloud ecosystem project in Africa (Africa Cloud Ecosystem project).
This meeting marks the fourth stage of a continental mission that will continue until May 10, 2024. The initiative initially targets ten African countries, including Tunisia, Egypt, Ethiopia, Zambia, and Uganda, with the goal of developing a unified digital system for member states, promoting the development of digital services in various sectors such as education, health, and agriculture, through the adoption of cloud computing.
Highlighting his department's commitment to supporting this project, Ben Neji emphasized Tunisia's efforts in the field of cloud computing, particularly the country's achievement of obtaining a cloud service provider label from the government and national cloud computing services. This progress is reinforced by the ratification, last February, of an agreement with COMESA to organize meetings, workshops, and other activities on Tunisian territory.
