Egypt Stands Out as the Only Arab Nation in the Top 25 of the Country Brand Ranking

Egypt has distinguished itself this year as the only Arab nation in the top 25 of the Country Brand Ranking, a global tourism ranking dominated by Europe and Asia. According to the 2024-2025 study, Egypt remains the most sought-after African destination. On the international scene, it has entered the top 20 of the most attractive destinations, gaining six places to rank 19th globally. This is the third consecutive year that Egypt has maintained its position as the leader among African tourist destinations.

This study evaluates country branding based on online searches, social media, and websites. Egypt benefits from strong online visibility, reinforcing its status as an indispensable destination.

Morocco, for its part, has made a significant leap. It now ranks second in Africa, just behind Egypt, pushing South Africa to third place. Morocco's continued improvement on social media and online, as well as its stable performance in other areas, highlights its growing appeal. The way the country will face future challenges, such as the September 2023 earthquake, will certainly influence its future rankings.

As for Tunisia, it ranks fifth in Africa and 70th globally. Although progress has been made, Tunisia still has a way to go. However, it is essential to highlight recent successes, such as the record tourist year and new initiatives. Among these, the free "Guide Djerba" app offers a comprehensive view of activities, deals, restaurants, shops, and news in Djerba. Additionally, the inauguration of tourist information offices in Midoun and Houmt Souk marks an important step forward.

Algeria, for its part, ranks 21st in Africa and 136th globally. Notable declines include South Africa, which has lost its first place in Africa, now ranking third. Ghana has also dropped two places, while Nigeria has experienced a significant eight-place drop.

Here is the top 10 of tourist destinations:

  1. Egypt
  2. Morocco
  3. South Africa
  4. Mauritius
  5. Tunisia
  6. Tanzania
  7. Kenya
