Tunisian Highways to Produce Their Own Energy
The Tunisian highways could soon produce a part of their own energy. The Tunisian Highway Company and the National Agency for Energy Management (ANME) signed a partnership agreement on Monday, July 13, to accelerate the deployment of energy efficiency projects and the use of renewable energy on the country's highway infrastructure.
Partnership Agreement
The agreement provides for technical support from ANME for the implementation of a program covering all of the company's facilities. The actions will concern buildings, equipment, and the vehicle fleet, with the aim of improving the company's energy performance and reducing its energy consumption.
Development of Renewable Energy Projects
One of the main orientations of this partnership is to develop renewable energy projects on the various infrastructures along the highway network. The two establishments want to integrate the Tunisian Highway Company into the national energy transition dynamic. The cooperation will not be limited to the energy aspect, as the two partners have also planned initiatives in favor of the environment.
Environmental Initiatives
These initiatives include a reforestation campaign scheduled for September 2026, with the contribution of ANME, to participate in the reduction of carbon emissions. Additionally, joint awareness campaigns will be organized for highway users to promote more rational energy consumption and strengthen the dissemination of energy transition principles.
Objective of the Partnership
Through this agreement, ANME will support the Tunisian Highway Company in the realization of its energy projects, with the ambition of making this public company an example of energy transition among public establishments. The partnership aims to improve the company's energy efficiency, reduce its energy consumption, and promote the use of renewable energy sources.
