Tunisian Foreign Bank’s Offshore Branch Returns to Profitability in 2025
The Tunisian offshore branch of the Tunisian Foreign Bank (TFB) has released its financial statements for the fiscal year ended December 31, 2025. The institution reported a net profit of €0.249 million, marking the end of two consecutive years of losses. This return to profitability is a welcome development.
Financial Performance Highlights
The bank’s Net Banking Income (NBI) rebounded to reach €0.362 million. This recovery was driven by significant and contrasting movements in its revenue streams. While interest and similar income plummeted to €0.220 million, down from €0.749 million in the previous year, the bank recorded €0.478 million in net gains from its commercial portfolio and financial operations. This performance effectively offset the financial underperformance seen in 2024, which had resulted in a loss of €0.216 million.
Furthermore, the cost of risk provided a significant boost to the bottom line. The bank recorded €0.294 million in provision reversals, confirming an improvement in the quality of its assets. This financial cushion allowed the bank to absorb personnel costs of €265 million and operating expenses of €0.129 million.
Balance Sheet Overview
- Customer Loans: Net customer loans decreased to €7.475 million (with a gross value of €19.581 million).
- Deposits: Customer deposits stood at €3.785 million, a figure consistent with the branch’s institutional profile.
Strategic Outlook and Growth Potential
The bank possesses an underexploited growth opportunity, particularly regarding the strategic potential of Tunisians residing abroad. To fully capitalize on this segment, TFB must urgently innovate its approach.
Concrete steps are already underway, such as the prospecting operation conducted in the Sultanate of Oman in 2026. However, this is a long-term endeavor that requires:
- A robust digital offering.
- Tailored savings and investment solutions.
- A competitive pricing policy.
By focusing on these areas, the Tunisian Foreign Bank can sustain its return to profitability and unlock new avenues for growth in the offshore market.
