National Energy and Mining Observatory Reports Decline in Crude Oil Production

According to the latest report from the National Observatory of Energy and Mines, national crude oil production reached 219 kt by the end of February 2025, marking a 9% decrease compared to the same period in 2024. This decline affects the majority of the country's major oil fields, including:

  • Ouedzar: -63%
  • Miskar: -33%
  • Nawara: -23%
  • Ashtart: -14%
  • El Hajeb/Guebiba: -13%
  • Gherib: -16%

Only a few fields have shown an increase in production, including:

  • El Borma: +17%
  • M.L.D: +31%
  • Adam: +4%

Additionally, the Hasdrubal concession resumed production on December 10, 2024, following a temporary shutdown for maintenance that began on November 27.

The average daily oil production has thus fallen to 27,600 barrels/day, compared to 32,700 barrels/day a year earlier.

Natural Gas Production Also Sees Decline

The combined resources of national production and fiscal quota have been established at 304 ktep, representing a 6% year-over-year decrease. Commercial dry gas production has decreased by 4%, while the transit tax on Algerian gas has plummeted by 11%, standing at 113 ktep by the end of February 2025.

These figures confirm the downward trend in national energy production, amidst a context marked by technical constraints and challenges related to resource exploitation.
