New Zealand Government Announces Visa Rule Relaxation to Boost Economic Growth
The center-right New Zealand government announced on Sunday a relaxation of visa rules to stimulate economic growth.
According to Reuters, Immigration Minister Erica Stanford stated that the investor visa category will become "simpler and more flexible" to encourage investors to choose New Zealand as a destination for their capital, skills, and international connections. Two new visa categories will be created: one for high-risk investments and another for mixed investments.
These measures, which will come into effect on April 1, follow the recent reform allowing tourists to work remotely during their stay, aiming to revitalize the tourism sector.
After entering a technical recession in the third quarter of 2024, New Zealand is seeking to revive its growth. In January, the government announced the creation of Invest New Zealand, an agency dedicated to foreign investment, aiming to facilitate and centralize procedures for international investors.
