A New Step in Tunisian-Mauritanian Cooperation
A new step has been taken in Tunisian-Mauritanian cooperation. Yesterday, September 25, the head of the cabinet of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, presided over a working session in Tunis with a significant Mauritanian delegation. The objective is to discover Tunisia's experience in implementing the "Kaizen" method, a Japanese concept focused on continuous improvement of quality and productivity.
The Meeting and its Objectives
The meeting, which was attended by officials from the ministry as well as a representative from the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA), presented the results achieved by Tunisia in this field. Since the launch of the Tunisian-Japanese program, over 100 Tunisian experts have been trained and nearly 200 industrial enterprises have benefited from technical support. According to the ministry, this program has increased productivity in certain production lines by 57% and improved product quality by 60%.
Field Visits and Training
During their stay, the Mauritanian officials made several field visits to Tunisian technical centers, including those for electrical and mechanical industries, construction materials, ceramics and glass, as well as textiles. These visits complement an academic training cycle organized in May for Mauritanian officials.
Sharing Knowledge and Expertise
The head of the cabinet highlighted Tunisia's willingness to share its expertise with countries in the region, particularly Mauritania, in order to strengthen its African influence in the industrial sector.
What is Kaizen?
It is worth noting that the Japanese term "Kaizen" literally means "change for the better". It refers to a management philosophy focused on continuous improvement, in small steps, of productivity, quality, and efficiency, while involving all employees in the evolution process.
