GIZ Inaugurates SOPAL Academy for Vocational Training of Young People in Tunisia's Manufacturing Sector

The German Corporation for International Cooperation (GIZ) inaugurated the SOPAL Academy on February 28, 2025, in Sfax, Tunisia, to provide vocational training to young people in the manufacturing sector. This project is the result of a public-private partnership, supported by German development cooperation, and implemented by GIZ on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The goal of this initiative is to enhance the employability of young people and improve their professional integration in Tunisia's manufacturing sector.

By 2026, 300 young people, including 30% women, will benefit from training in future-oriented trades such as plumbing, mechanical engineering, and product design. Additionally, 180 informal workers and 80 trainers will also benefit from training programs. These actions aim to address the growing need for skilled labor and contribute to the sustainable development of the sector.

GIZ, the SOPAL group, the Ministry of Employment and Vocational Training, the National Center for Trainer Training and Engineering Education (CENAFFIF), and the National Agency for Employment and Independent Work (ANETI) are committed to supporting this project, which aims to positively transform the landscape of vocational training in Tunisia.
