Tunisian Federation of Travel and Tourism Agencies Offers Unconditional Support to Nouvelair
The Tunisian Federation of Travel and Tourism Agencies (FTAV) announced on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, its "total and unconditional" support for the airline Nouvelair, which it considers a pillar of the national flag. In its statement, the FTAV recalled that the incident that occurred on September 21 in Nice is currently the subject of several investigations conducted by the competent authorities. It calls for waiting for the official conclusions before drawing any hasty interpretations, denouncing the "premature" dissemination of certain information in foreign media.
Recall of the Incident
The Nouvelair flight BJ586, coming from Tunis, had experienced a critical situation during its landing at Nice-Côte d'Azur Airport. The Airbus A320 had mistakenly aligned itself with a runway already occupied by an EasyJet plane ready to take off. The Tunisian crew had fortunately interrupted its maneuver at the last minute by proceeding with a go-around, avoiding a collision. All passengers were unharmed. The French Bureau of Investigation and Analysis (BEA) classified the event as a "serious incident," and a judicial investigation was also opened in Nice.
The incident has sparked strong reactions in France, with the FTAV reaffirming its support for Nouvelair, which it considers a "national pride" with 36 years of experience and essential contribution to the development of Tunisian tourism. The FTAV emphasizes the seriousness and professionalism of the company, recognized for its respect for international standards, and calls on sector players to "unity, restraint, and responsibility" to protect the ecosystem of Tunisian air transport.
By reaffirming its full support for Nouvelair, the federation believes that the criticisms made following the incident are based on "unfounded rumors" and do not reflect the reality of the company's commitment.
