Carthage Innov'Startup: The 4th Edition Comes to a Close at the Tunis Science City

Today, the Tunis Science City hosts the final of the 4th edition of Carthage Innov'Startup, a competition launched by the University of Carthage, a premium member of the "Global Alliance of Entrepreneurial Universities - NCEE."

Organized by the Carthage Student Entrepreneurship Hub (PEEC), this competition aims to encourage innovation and entrepreneurship among young university students. It is part of the "Quality Practice Jawda Project" (PAQ-DGSU), funded by the World Bank.

This edition kicked off with a bootcamp from October 28 to November 1, 2024, also at the Tunis Science City. For five days, participating students followed an intensive program, combining conferences, discussion panels, and workshops on essential entrepreneurship themes, such as Go-To-Market strategy, lean startup model, financial setup, and the use of artificial intelligence for startups. The candidates were guided by academic referees, accompanied by experts and professionals from the Tunisian entrepreneurial ecosystem, to reinforce their skills for the competition.

After this training, the students presented their projects in the semi-final before a jury composed of academics and professionals. Out of the many projects submitted, 11 were selected for the final. Among these projects, some particularly caught attention for their originality and market potential. For example, SAMSAR, developed by Mohamed Bachir Bouaziz and Chater Marzougui, students at Sup'Com, proposes a Real Estate Tech application facilitating the matching between tenants and landlords, simplifying the search for housing in Tunisia.

Another innovative project, TETRA HABITAT, carried by Aymen Ben Dekhil and Ines Chaouch from ENAU, specializes in Health Tech. Their emergency architecture concept aims to provide shelter for refugees, whether in Tunisia or internationally, and can also be used during events or on construction sites. This type of initiative responds to urgent needs with a flexible and rapidly deployable architectural solution.

Today, the finalists present their projects one last time before a jury composed of influential personalities from the entrepreneurial ecosystem. At the end of this day, four projects will be awarded: three will receive a prize for their entrepreneurial potential, while a "public favorite" prize will also be awarded to a project that has particularly captivated the public and the jury.

According to Imed Maatouk, director of the PEEC, this 4th edition has distinguished itself with a notable enrichment of the program, featuring two discussion panels titled "Entrepreneurship Together: Networking and Business" and "Innovation and Responsible Entrepreneurship." These sessions allowed students to better understand the current challenges of responsible and collaborative entrepreneurship. Moreover, a specific "matching" was introduced between referees, trainers, and students, reinforcing synergies within each team.

The winners will receive prizes offered by the University of Carthage and its partner sponsors of the event, illustrating the commitment of academic institutions and the private sector to promoting student entrepreneurship in Tunisia. Carthage Innov'Startup continues to represent a unique platform for these young talents, enabling them to acquire not only skills but also valuable experience and contacts in the Tunisian entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Stay tuned for the results!
