FAO Workshop in Tunisia: Mobilizing the Private Sector to Combat Climate Change
On October 8-9, 2025, the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) hosted a workshop in Tunisia to address a critical issue: helping Tunisian agriculture adapt to climate change. The objective was clear: to mobilize the private sector to become a key player in building a more sustainable and resilient agriculture.
Key Outcomes of the Workshop
During the two-day event, agricultural enterprises, public institutions, and international organizations exchanged ideas to create a network of private sector actors committed to this cause. Together, they developed:
- A concrete action plan
- A guide on public-private partnerships
- A platform for analyzing climate investments
Goals of the Initiative
The idea is to strengthen skills, share best practices, and facilitate access to green financing for agricultural enterprises. This network also relies on a regionally adapted approach, taking into account the needs of rural communities.
Importance of Private Sector Involvement
For the FAO, involving the private sector is an essential step in making Tunisia's national climate change strategy a success. Through this mobilization, Tunisia hopes to accelerate its transition to a more sustainable, resource-efficient, and inclusive agriculture.
