International Chamber of Commerce Launches in Tunisia

The International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) represents 45 million businesses in over 170 countries, including through its various national committees. The organization established itself in Tunisia in January.

Today, a launch celebration took place at the Sheraton Tunis hotel. This event allowed attendees to discover the ICC, its mission, and its services, as well as lay the groundwork for the next actions of the new national committee.

Present at the conference were Feryel Ouerghi, Minister of Economy and Planning, and John Denton, Secretary-General of the International Chamber of Commerce.

Adel Mohsen Chaabane, from the Trade and Investment Commission, highlighted the objective of his commission: "The goal we have set and achieved with the team that will accompany this commission is to succeed in our projects. I have listed projects that will be the daily, present, and future of the ICC to bring Tunisia to the forefront of visibility and excellence. Regarding trade reform, we will develop an exchange platform with private sector partners to propose reforms. We will also benchmark best practices thanks to the experiences and recommendations of the ICC's global network to strengthen our reform proposals."

He added that his commission aims to convince officials to include the Tunisian ICC in discussions to strengthen public-private partnerships.

Mouna Chaieb, from the Digital Economy Commission, emphasized the importance of reinforcing online security and trust, as well as influencing public policies to support the economy. She stated that "This is the objective of our commission."

Chaieb revealed that the intervention of AI, particularly generative AI, is concerning, but Tunisia has many young people and businesses capable of meeting this challenge. She recalled that by 2030, AI could add $15 to $25 million to the global economy.

Regarding the Environment and Energy Commission, Selma Babbou highlighted that her commission is particularly concerned about the fact that, in recent years, many SMEs have been affected by climate change. She added that this commission is committed to the United Nations Conference on Climate Change.
