Mastercard Foundation EdTech Program Expands to Egypt

Following previous programs in African countries such as South Africa, Kenya, and Nigeria, the Mastercard Foundation EdTech program has expanded to Egypt.

Supporting African EdTech Startups

Launched in 2019, the Mastercard Foundation EdTech program is an entrepreneurship acceleration program designed to support promising African EdTech startups. The program provides crucial support in management, finance, and education to help EdTech startups develop, achieve sustainability, and increase their impact.

Partnership with EdVentures

The expansion into Egypt is made possible through a partnership with EdVentures, the investment arm of Nahdet Misr Group, a leading venture capital firm specializing in educational technologies in the MENA region.

12 Startups Selected for the Program

Twelve startups have been selected for the initial eight-month program, which includes specialized training, mentorship, workshops, networking, and access to courses. Each startup will receive $60,000 in funding without equity participation. Over the next three years, the program will support a total of 36 EdTech startups, contributing to positive change in the education sector.

Some of the Selected Startups:

  • Armstrong: An interactive STEM learning platform.
  • Career 180: Career development and professional placement solutions for young people.
  • Bayt Alkhyata: A platform promoting social development for women and their communities.

These startups will benefit from the Mastercard Foundation EdTech program, which aims to drive positive change in the education sector.
