Strengthening Agricultural Sector Financing: A Working Session to Identify New Mechanisms

On Tuesday, October 22, 2024, a working session was held, presided over by Hamadi Habib, Secretary of State to the Minister of Agriculture, Water Resources, and Fisheries.

This meeting brought together a delegation from the National Agricultural Bank (BNA) and central and regional officials from the ministry.

The primary objective was to identify ways to increase financing volumes and explore new mechanisms to support farmers.

During the session, it was agreed to organize a series of information days in different regions of the country, including Béja, Kairouan, and El Kef.

These meetings will allow farmers and professional organizations to learn about financial support programs, available funds, and financing opportunities for specific sectors such as rainfed and irrigated cereals.

In parallel, training sessions will be set up for farmers to familiarize them with agricultural credit procedures. These sessions will be organized in partnership with the BNA and the Agricultural Extension and Training Agency.

Awareness campaigns, including public service announcements and information programs, will accompany these initiatives to ensure better dissemination of information.

A reflection group, under the supervision of the General Directorate of Finance, Investments, and Professional Structures, will also be created in coordination with the concerned structures and the bank.

It will be responsible for studying issues related to financing and loan repayment.
