Tunisia and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Strengthen Cooperation
Tunisia and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening their cooperation, with a particular focus on supporting public institutions, improving access to financing for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and exploring new promising areas of collaboration.
This mutual desire to develop and diversify the partnership was at the heart of the discussions between high-ranking officials from both parties.
The strategic meeting took place on Monday, June 30, 2025, at the Seville Conference Center, on the sidelines of the 4th International Conference on Development Financing. The Head of the Tunisian Government, Sarra Zaafarani Zanzri, met with the President of the EBRD, Odile Renaud-Basso.
During the exchanges, the Head of the Tunisian Government praised the current level of cooperation between the Tunisian state and the financial institution. She expressed Tunisia's wish to develop and diversify this cooperation to encompass future-oriented sectors such as:
- Renewable energies
- Transportation, particularly rail transport
- Water management
Sarra Zaafarani Zanzri also highlighted Tunisia's desire to benefit from the EBRD's technical expertise to support public institutions and enterprises. She emphasized the importance of strengthening the partnership, particularly by providing necessary financing to support SMEs.
For her part, the President of the EBRD, Odile Renaud-Basso, warmly appreciated the climate of trust and the level and pace of cooperation between the two parties. She reaffirmed the Bank's commitment to continuing to support Tunisia in its economic reform efforts.
