Minister of Economy and Planning and European Investment Bank Vice-President Sign Financing and Guarantee Agreements to Support National Water Supply Security Program in Greater Tunis Region

The Minister of Economy and Planning and the Vice-President of the European Investment Bank (EIB) signed two financing and guarantee agreements today, Monday, April 28, 2025, to support the national program for securing the supply of potable water in the Greater Tunis region.

This move is part of the Vice-President of the EIB's official working visit to Tunisia, aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in strategic sectors such as water.

In concrete terms, these two agreements add to the overall financing for the national potable water program. The first financing, worth €8 million (approximately 27 million Tunisian dinars), will provide potable water to the Elhessyene financial port area (Raoued, Ariana). The second financing, worth €22 million (approximately 73 million Tunisian dinars), will be allocated to the construction of a water treatment plant in Béjaoua. With these new commitments, the EIB's total contribution to the program now reaches €68 million, equivalent to approximately 225 million Tunisian dinars.

Furthermore, a technical assistance convention worth €5 million (approximately 17 million Tunisian dinars), funded by the European Union, was also signed. This support will be dedicated to conducting studies for various public projects, thereby enhancing the quality and efficiency of future investments in the water sector.
