Tunisian Central Bank Updates Financing Terms for Arboriculture and Market Gardening
The Tunisian Central Bank (BCT) published Circular No. 2025-11 on October 7, 2025, revising the scales and deadlines for credits intended for arboriculture and market gardening. This update aims to adapt agricultural financing to the current realities of the sector, marked by rising production costs and climate variability.
Key Revisions
According to the circular, the new intervention scales set the maximum credit amounts that banks can grant based on the type of crop and mode of operation (dry or irrigated). Banks will now have to adjust the credit amount according to the size of the operation, planned expenses, and yields observed during the last campaigns.
Updated Credit Amounts
The credit amounts applicable to certain tree species, such as:
- Vineyards
- Citrus fruits
- Olive trees
- Date palms
- Almond trees have been updated. For example:
- The scale for intensive table grapes is now set at 13,980 dinars per hectare, with a deadline of November 15.
- The scale for date palms reaches 13,150 dinars per hectare, with a deadline of December 31.
Market Gardening Credits
Market gardening is also affected by this revision. Credits for:
- Seasonal tomatoes can go up to 12,640 dinars per hectare
- Seasonal potatoes can reach 15,175 dinars per hectare
- Strawberries can reach 44,710 dinars per hectare with deadlines adapted to each type of production.
Implementation
This circular, which replaces the old scales fixed since 1987, is part of Circular No. 87-47 related to the modalities of granting and refinancing agricultural credits. It comes into effect immediately upon publication.
