European Investment Bank Vice-President Reviews Environmental Priorities in Tunisia
The Vice-President of the European Investment Bank (EIB), Ioannis Tsakiris, reviewed national environmental priorities in Tunisia, including the implementation of EIB-funded programs and projects, particularly in the areas of sanitation and the integrated program for pollution eradication in Lake Bizerte.
This took place during a working meeting held on Monday with the Minister of Environment, Habib Abid, the Secretary of State for Water Resources, Hammadi Habib, and the Director of the European Investment Bank's office in Tunisia, Jean-Luc Revéreaul.
The participants discussed files mainly related to the reuse of treated water through the creation of sanitation stations and coastal protection, strengthening resilience to climate change and marine erosion, as well as sustainable waste management and valorization, combating desertification, and reducing land degradation through reforestation programs.
During the meeting, the EIB Vice-President mentioned that the bank is ready to support these priorities and provide the necessary technical assistance, according to a statement published on Monday by the Ministry of Environment.
It is worth noting that the EIB has granted Tunisia a loan of 30 million euros (approximately 100 million dinars) for the national program to secure and strengthen the supply of potable water in the Greater Tunis region and to supply the capital's financial port with potable water.
