Central Bank of Tunisia Strengthens International Financial Partnerships in 2025
The Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT) continued to reinforce its international financial partnerships in 2025, mobilizing credits from the Arab Monetary Fund and signing two bilateral conventions with Iraq and Oman.
Automatic Credit of $4.6 Million
In July 2025, cooperation between Tunisia and the Arab Monetary Fund resulted in the conclusion of an automatic credit allowing for the disbursement of approximately $4.6 million. Additionally, negotiations have been relaunched for an extended credit, with the targeted envelope exceeding $200 million.
Iraq: A Technical Framework on Multiple Levels
The BCT signed a cooperation agreement with the Central Bank of Iraq in May 2025. The agreement aims to consolidate bilateral relations and establish a common framework for technical exchanges on:
- Financial inclusion
- Banking supervision
- Monetary policy
- Development of banking infrastructure
- Electronic payment systems and financial services
Oman: Listing of the Rial from 2026
In December 2025, a similar convention was concluded with the Central Bank of Oman. This structured partnership provides for the exchange of expertise and information, as well as coordination of efforts on:
- Risk management
- Development of payment systems
- Digital transformation
- Financial innovation Notably, the agreement establishes the listing of the Omani rial against the Tunisian dinar starting from 2026.
