African Development Bank Celebrates 60 Years of Partnership with Tunisia

$11 Billion in Financing Over Six Decades

Over the past six decades, the African Development Bank (AfDB) has provided approximately $11 billion (35 billion dinars) in financing to Tunisia, covering key sectors such as transportation, energy, agriculture, and entrepreneurship, announced Malin Bloomberg, AfDB's Regional Director in Tunis.

During the celebration of the Bank's 60th anniversary at the Ennahli Park (Ariana Governorate), Bloomberg highlighted that the AfDB's current strategy in Tunisia prioritizes food and water security, critical issues in North Africa in the face of climate challenges.

The Bank is working closely with the Tunisian government, as well as private enterprises, including commercial banks and industrialists, to promote sustainable development.

In this context, the AfDB is supporting a forestry project that encourages tree planting to strengthen environmental protection. The ceremony was also marked by the planting of 60 trees in partnership with Tunisian scouts, a symbolic gesture of the Bank's commitment to sustainable development, according to Mohamed El-Azizi, Director General for North Africa.
