International Spotlight: Chaima Ghribi Mechteri, Tunisian Talent in Cutting-Edge Technologies

Chaima Ghribi Mechteri is a shining example of Tunisian excellence in the field of cutting-edge technologies. As a passionate engineer, she is currently contributing to the development of 6G at Nokia, embodying the excellence of the Tunisian diaspora.

Early Beginnings

Her journey began at the National School of Computer Science (ENSI) in Tunisia, where she developed a passion for artificial intelligence, networks, and software engineering. She then pursued a master's degree in multimedia networks, driven by a constant curiosity: "I wanted to understand how everything connects," she confides.

Career Advancement

A scholarship enabled her to complete her final-year internship at TélécomSud Paris, where she discovered cloud computing and learned to optimize energy consumption while intelligently allocating resources. Her thesis and post-doctoral work at Télécom Paris further strengthened her expertise, combining academic research with collaborative European projects.

Beyond Theory

However, Chaima sought to go beyond theory. She joined Bouygues Telecom as an SDN architect and later moved to Orange Labs to integrate AI into 5G networks.

Current Role at Nokia

Today, at Nokia, she focuses on 6G: defining architectures and international standards to ensure reliable, interoperable, and responsible networks. Her role includes:

  • Designing intelligent networks capable of managing communications between AI systems
  • Optimizing energy efficiency in networks, a major challenge for making 6G sustainable
  • Contributing to the development of international standards to enable operators to create compatible and secure networks
  • Testing and validating distributed multi-agent systems to ensure effective communication across all network components

Vision and Mission

"At Nokia, we're no longer just connecting people, we're connecting intelligence," she explains. Her role involves enabling AI agents to communicate and collaborate in various sectors, from healthcare to industry, while ensuring energy efficiency and responsible use.

Overcoming Challenges

Her journey has not been without challenges. "The tech industry is still very male-dominated in France, so I had to convince and demonstrate that my ideas could work." For Chaima, beyond technical skills, adaptability, perseverance, and the ability to build relationships make all the difference.

Future Plans

Her commitment is to responsible and useful AI, with a positive impact. In five years, she sees herself sharing her knowledge and continuing to innovate. As a 6G engineer and architect, Chaima Ghribi Mechteri demonstrates how patience and motivation can make the Tunisian diaspora shine on the global stage.
