Tunisia to Host 3rd Edition of Africa Renewable Energy Forum in November 2024

Tunisia will host the 3rd edition of the Africa Renewable Energy Forum on November 6-7, 2024. This forum, supported by several partners, including the International Salon of Energy Transition, the African Solar Industry Association, the Tunisian Chamber of Photovoltaic Industry, the Middle East Solar Industry Association, and SolarPower Europe, is expected to attract over 100 international and Tunisian exhibitors specializing in the energy sector. They will present their latest innovations and solutions.

The main objective of this event is to stimulate and reinforce investments in renewable energies in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

The forum's program includes discussions and presentations on the latest advances in various fields:

  • Solar energy
  • Green hydrogen
  • Electric mobility
  • Wind energy
  • Geothermal energy
  • Hydroelectricity
  • Energy storage systems

An innovative matchmaking system will also allow participants to organize meetings between investors, decision-makers, and project developers.

It is worth noting that the President of the Tunisian Chamber of Photovoltaic Industry, Ali Kanzari, had already highlighted the country's commitment to increasing the share of renewable energies to 50% of its energy mix by 2035. Furthermore, Tunisia aims to reduce its carbon intensity by 46% and achieve carbon neutrality with 80% of renewable energies by 2050, according to the same source.

It is also important to recall that, according to the International Energy Agency (IEA), Africa needs to invest around $70 billion in renewable energies by 2030 to achieve its climate and energy objectives.
